Stephanie and Andy were supposed to have an intimate elopement setting at Bowditch Point Park on the beach just before sunset, but our late summer Florida weather had other plans for this adorable Kentucky couple. After chatting with their wedding coordinator we made a final plan change for their ceremony to happen on the balcony of their hotel room down at Lovers Key Resort. It worked out perfectly! Janet, the wedding coordinator from Beach Weddings Made Simple was able to decorate their balcony with some foliage from the room and tulle that would have gone on their beach side arch, a small table for their sand ceremony set up and the perfect amount of protection from the rain as it came down. This is one of the beautiful parts to having an intimate wedding or elopement, changes on the fly do not have to accommodate lots of people and can be easy to make!
The natural white noise of the summer storm added to the romance of the moment between these two as they quietly said their vows to one another, sharing special moments that I was able to capture for them to remember forever. Sneaky little smiles and gentle kisses perfectly framed their words with love and affection. As their ceremony came to an end we realized that the rain had stopped and we would be able to go walk around the resort landscape to take their couples portraits and while they may not have gotten the beach photos they initially wanted, after seeing some of the images on the back of my camera as I was shooting they quickly realized that their wedding day images were going to be beautiful no matter the scenery. Their love was shining brighter than any southwest Florida sunset could.
Stephanie informed me that she had purchased her dress second hand, but there is no way anyone would have guessed that! It was a perfect fit for her and a gorgeous style that fit her southern charm without question. Andy looked sharp in his suit and his peach colored tie was more than enough color pop even without the pinks of a cloudless sunset.
